1. Remove Chapter 5 NAT for IPv4 in CCNA 4 Connecting Networks

   Chapter 5 NAT for IPv4 in CCNA 4 Connecting Networks is exactly identical to Chapter 11 NAT for IPv4 in CCNA 2 Routing and Switching Essentials. I propose CCNA 4 Chapter 5 consists of a different subject that would be of benefit to teaching CCNA students. Two subjects spring to my mind that would be worthwhile;

   6to4 Tunnels

2. Updating switches in Packet Tracer with the new 15.0 IOS

   I would like to see the networking academy uipdate the 2960 and 3560 switches with the newer 15.0 IOS. That is the IOS that is required for the new curriculum.

   I’m not sure if you saw Kang’s comment so I’m posting it here:

   15.0 IOS for 2960 is available in PT 6.1.1
   You can bring a server in PT then change the IOS of 2960 via FTP/TFTP in PT

   For 3560, IOS 15 is not available in PT at this time, we will look into this. thanks.

3. Assessment server for CCNA Voice & Certificate

   There is a great need for an Assessment Server for the
   curricula "CCNA Voice" !
   Also there should be an Academy Certificate/Letter for the students for motivation and elevated success in their hunt for jobs.

4. Academy ID number

   Please provide a way for ITC or ASC to find the ID number for Academies. From time to time when academies buy equipment from the local cisco partner. The partner needs the Netacad ID number to process the purchase.

   Hi Truls,
   Academy ID numbers are provided in the ASC Dashboard available using the Access Academy Reports link under the Manage tab in NetSpace. ITCs can use the Academy Locator to find the ID numbers.

5. Capability of creating a blank course or import course material upon creation of a course

   Currently,when you create a course, you have to select the course you wish to teach which, essentially, is a template for that course. The problem, however, when you import material from another course is that you end up with a lot of duplicates (even when you select which material needs to be imported). If you allowed the option to create a blank course, this would eliminate duplicates when importing a previous course. Or, if there was a way to create a course based upon a previous course when it is created, the material from the other course could be imported without duplicates. This would allow us to have a customized course easily duplicated for the next class we want to teach.

   Currently,when you create a course, you have to select the course you wish to teach which, essentially, is a template for that course. 6. Posting Information about how Java updates affect assessments

   My students periodically get an error message when taking assessments using Google Chrome that say something like: "The following pages have become unresponsive...you can wait or kill the pages."

   Academy support mentioned that it's likely due to Java updates and to try the latest version of another browser like Firefox. Alternatively, I could try "going to Chrome settings and add '.assessment.netacad.net' to BOTH the Java exceptions page and the Pop-up exceptions page have [at times] resolved the issue."

   I would like to see posted somewhere in Netspace (FAQs perhaps?) suggestions to fix this "Pages unresponsive" issue (and any others that are suspected to be Java related) when students are taking assessments. Currently, I couldn't find any information addressing this issue and had to contact Academy Support directly.

7. Java and packet Tracers on Tests - Problematic

   Using Java to launch the packet tracers on chapter exams is very problematic. In violates best practices to allow java to access local resources on the local machine.
   This scheme is also very sensitive to rapidly changing Java Versions. For my class, it worked for the first weeks of the semester, and then suddenly quit working because the java was out of date. I had no way of knowing this beforehand. (How can we know when sun updates java?)
   
   Also, where my student tests, I have no administrative rights. It typically takes about a week to get my IT staff to update the java in the lab where we test and we deliver curriculum.
   Packet tracer should just run in the browser for the tests, not try to launch it on the local machine.

   A Packet Tracer Media Object (PTMO) is a Packet Tracer activity that acts as an interactive media object for multiple choices (MC), drag-and-drop (DND) and fill-in-the-blanks (FIB) questions. Students will perform basic configuration, design and exploration tasks within the PT activities before answering the MC, DND, or FIB questions. We believe the PTMOs enhance students understanding and retention of the learning materials as they progress through the course. In addition, it will also enable students to familiarize and instructors to identify and resolve potential issues before students taking the Packet Tracer Skills Assessment.

   First, we do empathize with your problems – most of them are related to Java performing frequent updates and interacting differently with each browser. Unfortunately, we do NOT have a quick term fix. In the long term, we are looking for solutions to be Java-independent that hopefully will greatly reduce – if not eliminate – all of these headaches.

   In the meantime, we understand that students might have to click through multiple screens, and if they make a wrong selection – and in many cases, even if they make the right selection, Packet Tracer will not load. However, all of their information should be saved if they need to close the browser, restart the exam and allow Java to rerun and load the PT activities. We acknowledge that this is not an ideal situation, but can function as a stopgap workaround until we have a better solution.

   We recommend using the SKIP function as a work-around if the Java problems persist.

   After students select the exam, a Skip button will appear; and clicking the Skip button will prevent PT from initializing. The questions (that have PTMO embedded) will still display but students will not be able to launch the PT Activity. This means that information needed to answer the question will not be available but the question is still scored. Instructors can re-grade the students score in the Grades section of the course.

   Hi Ian,
   Packet Tracer is now available for Android devices and there are currently no plans to have PT for MAC, a current workaround is to use WNE on MAC.

10. Incomplete assessment

    I can not reactivate an incomplete assessment because the assessment still active.

    I can not deactivate the assessment for the student because the have an incomplete assessment.

    I can find no way to solve this with out having tech support di it

    FRUSTRATING. Why doesn't Cisco just auto submit incomplete assessments. Current system is very frustrating and a major waste of time.

    Hi Tom and others,
    You should have the option to Re-enable an assessment through the Manage Activations Tab. Click on the Assignment link for the specific exam. Select Manage Activations. Go to row for that Student and click the checkbox in the Re-enable Incomplete Assessments column. Then press submit. If this does not work, then it may be a database issue just for that student or that specific exam at that time and will require the HelpDesk. But for normal reenablement, this solution works.

11. Institution Student ID is missing in "Grades" and "People"

    When instructor create a student class,the instructor may also include "institution Student ID" info when enroll students into the course. While this "institution Student ID" information is not available in gradebook ("Grades") and "People" in Netspace. At this time, "grades" only shows student email as secondary ID, while "institution Student ID" is the best unique ID for class management. Is there anyway to show "institution Student ID" in gradebook in Netspace?

Until we can further develop and analyze the Institution Student ID functionality, we have decided to remove the field from the NetSpace User Interface. 12. Website Speed

    Speed to the website is much slower than the previous cisco academy. It can take up to 30-35 seconds just to get to the start screen. I have tried on multiple networks with high speed internet. Assessments will be a real problem if this continues

    Thank you again for your patience “Website Speed” issue.

    We have improved site performance (website speed) by doing the following:

    •Streamlining DataBase queries.
    •Streaming assets like images, PDFs and large downloadable content directly from the cloud.
    •Enabling caching on the loading of some non-time-sensitive data.

    Please also help us get the word out to other instructors that Cisco NetSpace site functionality and site performance works best when users use the two current versions of the following supported web browsers:

    •Mozilla Firefox
    •Google Chrome
    •Internet Explorer

    Where possible we recommend using Firefox and Chrome browsers for the best site experience, and don’t forget to enable cookies and JavaScript PDF reader in your browser settings.

    Add the folder " en_ITEPC_VA_Desktop_v40” to the list of trusted locations.
    Refresh the page

    Thank you for the suggestion. Virtual Desktop is no longer supported and enhancements related to Virtual Desktop will not be reviewed. The FAQ for IT Essentials 6.0 states the following:

    Will the Virtual Desktop and Virtual Laptop simulations tools be available in IT Essentials 6.0?
    A. The Virtual Laptop and Virtual Desktop were standalone tools designed to supplement classroom learning and provide an interactive “hands-on” experience in learning environments with limited physical equipment. Both tools will be available as supplemental material but keep in mind that support for them has been discontinued.

    Hi Cyrille, The feedback in NetSpace is different than Academy Connection. In AC students had “personalized feedback” and in NetSpace they have Item level feedback. There is a guide in Club NetAcad called “Assessments Before and After” that might help explain the differences. If you are looking for personalized feedback to show in NetSpace we will add that to suggested enhancements.
