  1. Add exam time limit to advanced activation profile

(Exam) Activation profile does not appear to allow selection of a time to take an assessment. The default is 1 hour. I need to reenter each exam and create a custom advanced activation just to change the time limit to 2 hours.

Please add that capability to the class profile.

    Hi Karl,
You can create this under your Activation Profile in the Activation Tool on your course home page. Click on the Activation Tool then Create (or Edit) your Activation Profile. This will then be the default for your exams. There is a tutorial available (Program>NetSpace Tutorials>Activation Tool).
    Thanks,
    Kimberly

  2. CCNA version 5 only 4 Modules

I was under the initial impression all 7 modules being released for CCNA version 5 were a replacement for the Exploration and Discovery program and gave Academies more flexibility in the program to suit the audience. I have finally had time to look at where we are going in the “CCNA R&S Overview Presentation.ppt”. In this I see Cisco is taking us back to a four module structure. This is disappointing. My biggest concern is the style of teaching this will inflict upon us.
I think the temporary "Network Basics" provides a more linear approach (a hallmark of the Exploration…

  3. email subject line

There needs to be a subject line when sending out email.
First it is just good practice and second our state and local filters pick this type of email up as possible spam. It either is auto deleting or in some cases it is putting in spam folder.

  4. Make choices such as how many students to view on a page persistent --

It is a pain in the butt to have to reset the number of students to view each time.

  5. Make it easier/possible to edit a student's e-mail address/name

When they enroll, students often do not have a "professional" e-mail address. I have found no way to change a student's e-mail address and I seriously doubt that an individual wants to go through their entire professional relationship with Ciisco as "Melonmonkey"

    Hi Peyton,
Unfortunately, instructors are unable to change a student’s e-mail address/screen name. Students, however, can change their e-mail address and screen name in their Profile settings. Once the e-mail address is changed, they can select “Update my notification preferences email address in the classroom.”
    Thanks,
    Kimberly

    Hi Jawid,
Due to legal concerns we can only allow users to edit their own names and email addresses. However, as an instructor if a student loses their password or forgets their username you can go to the course info page (click on the gear icon next to the course name) and in the student section view the student’s user name and reset their password. Hope that helps.

  8. Settings

I was confused, because there are two menus with the same name for different things (namely settings). I wanted to change my user profile and used the wrong settings, the one which is in the course menu.

My suggestion is: The twio "settings" should have different names, because they are for differnet things.

Maybe one could be named "user settings", whereas the other could be called "course settings". That would be nice for beginners!

  9. Improve the "help" section

I like the idea us using Facebook to enhance the help section, but what about schools the block it by default?

Right now, when I click help it "loops" me back out and I just call the Cisco help-desk.

    Hi Michael,
I just heard back and students should ask their instructor about any issue first, the instructor can submit issues to the support desk on behalf of the student, and long term we are researching a NetSpace forum to post student questions.
    Thank you for your post,
    Kimberly

  10. Make sure adding students works.

When adding students make sure that if multiple students are added that they all actually get added to the class when save is clicked, not just the first name in the list. Thank you very much for once again not making sure things work as they should, or appear to work as they should.

  11. CCAI Certification Comeback

With the closing of NetAcad, instructors lost the ability to request CCAI certification as it is being replaced with Recognition program.

I believe the two can co-exist.

I propose that CCAI should be reinstated as a valid certification because it represents a status for all instructors, regardless of their success in the field, as all instructors that are eligible for CCAI have, at least, valid CCNA and at least one semester of teaching experience, which, in my perspective, is fairly enough to reward them.

Recognition program should still operate and award best instructors (best of the best), but it should…

    Hi Dino,
Thanks for your suggestion on the CCAI. At this time we have decided to end of life the CCAI program and instead reinvest in the Academy and Instructor recognition program.
    Best,
    Kimberly

  12. Exam activation for 1 student only

To shorten the method of activating a Chapter Exam for a single student or for a few students only.

At the moment you have to activate the chapter exam for the entire class first and then deactivate all the students that are not suppose to write the exam.

    Hello,
I apologize for the delay. In order to activate an exam for one student:
Click on Assignments, click on the exam you wish to activate, Click Create Advanced Activation, the page that will show up is Settings, click the Students tab (next to Settings) and choose which student you would like to activate the exam for. I hope this helps,
    Thank you!

  13. file locker

It is positively ridiculous that students cannot upload files to store for themselves (with my oversight, of course). How can I have students work on a group assignment outside of class? How can my students take electronic notes?

When will the curriculum catch up to the content?

  15. Administrators should be able to download the full student gradebook records for an academy

This function was available when the old netacad.net site was reaching closure and is now of immense assistance for administrators searching student records.

Please add this under the new netspace environment

  17. Looking for help

I sent the letter below to Cisco on July 30th and I haven't received any responses yet. I would like a written permission to submit to McGraw Hill. Can you please respond as soon as possible.

I am currently a co-author with Daniel R. Tomal PH.D. for the 4th edition of his Electronic Troubleshooting book to be published by McGraw-Hill. 18. CNAMS historical information at helpdesk

We need to verify the historical classwork of a student shared from another academy. Helpdesk claims to be unable to access this information. Without proof of passing CCNA, we cannot allow the student to enter CCNP classes which begin a two weeks.

Allow helpdesk (or all of us) access to CNAMS historical data.

Time is of the essence here (good luck with that).

  19. Buy similar URLs

Typing in www.netspace.com (a logical try) brings one to a pseudo spam site http://www.ser.com/ which even askes for cookies as netspace.

Grab the full set of similar URLs to prevent issues.
