  2. Community Forum Etiquette

    The community forums are full of one, two or three word postings containing "thanks", "thanks a lot" and many other contributions that are not related to the topic. The lack of use of the "like" button by community members has lead to long threads that cause members to scroll through many posting that contribute nothing to the topic in order to find meaningful content.

    These forums need moderation. The members that make these one, two or three word comments cannot seem to help themselves and we are unable to educate them on forum usage.

    I think there should be a link for instructors to enroll themselves into premier courses instead of having to create dummy classes to access the material.

    I can no longer access The Global Support, to open a new Ticket,
    or to ask for Chat help, and to see my 400+ previous Tickets!
    Neither I know where to open a Ticket for the above... :-(((

  6. Tie course feedback to current course not past courses or increase the number of attempts

    I recommend either increasing the number of attempts on a course feedback or tying the course feedback to the current course not previous courses. The two attempts does not work well for students who re-take a course whether it be due to failed attempts, medical reasons or other.

    Katherine, currently there are 2 max attempts for the Course Feedback. If the student needs to re-take the course they should have that second attempt available. If they are re-taking that course a third time, you will be able to contact the Support Desk and provide the student’s information and they will be able to provide an additional attempt for them. -NetAcad Support

    Flavia, the downloadable content will be for instructor use only on a local server. Due to copyright restrictions students will only be able to view online or purchase the materials, which can be done through Cisco Press. -NetAcad Support

  9. Default and Batch Publication of Quizes

    Now that it seems that Chapter Quizes are no longer available by default when a course is published (I didn't see any notification of this "new feature") two problems need to be addressed.

    (1) As the Attachment-01 shows there is an inconsistency between the little green cloud icons on the Course Modules page, which denote that the item is published, when in fact for Quizes, none are published and consequently students cannot access them.
    Only after the green cloud is clicked to "unpublish" an item does it then turn grey - but it

  10. Password Reset

    Please allow users to reset their passwords from the NetSpace log-in page beyond one-year. There is no link to the Help Desk on the log-in page and if someone needs to have their password reset, such as an alumnus, they have no way to resolve the situation.

  11. Adding Student to an existing Class

    Adding student to an already created class is a bit challenging as it requires additional workload.
    I would want the team to review this and make it possible that when a new student is enrolled for a course, the previous course that has been activated for other members of the class should automatically be made available for that new student in lieu of manual enrollment every now and then.

  12. Institution Student ID

    When we download cvs file , System do not provide the Institution Student ID ,
    Kindly if this provide will be easy to trace and work in our database.
    Further if there is any Student Management System Integrated with Cisco Academy guide for that.

    Saeed, if the ‘Institution Student ID’ is not showing up then it was not entered in when the accounts were originally created. I was able to test this with an account that had a value entered for that field when created and one that did not and it did appear in the CSV download. -NetAcad Support

    Mohammed, students will only be able to have one Cisco NetSpace account per email address. If they have multiple accounts it is because their instructor used a different email address when what is listed on their existing account. -NetAcad Support

  15. Reminders for discount voucher expiration deadline

    can it be possible for us to have a reminder system, whereby our students can start receiving e-mail notifications warning them about their discount voucher expiration date, we almost suffered a waste of vouchers as students were busy preparing for their exams, and at the last minute they realized that they only had 2 days left to save their vouchers, as their netspace accounts contain information about that, I thought they could start receiving notifications as the dead line draws near!!!

  17. Using my own Packet Tracer activities with automatic submitting and grading

    I would like to add my own .pka-s into the course and use them as assignments. I can do that by uploading the file, creating an assigment, then student downloads the file and uploads the solved activity of an other student...
    If Netspace could use my own .pkas with the same method as the official activities (calls PT from the webpage and uploads the file automatically when student chooses Submit) and also puts the percentages automatically into the gradebook, now that would be quite nice.

    In Academy Connection I can check the creator of student account but I can not do it in Netspace. It is a useful tool for academy manager to control online student account. Please add this function to Netspace. Thank you.

  20. Add more content to IT Essentials

    The IT Essentials curriculum should include more material and be more vendor neutral to increase its longevity. Stretching the current curriculum over a 180 day school year is challenging. Focusing so heavily on a particular OS makes it outdated too quickly. I would like to see more content and hands on activities on basic computer use, generic productivity software use, cloud based collaborative activities, basic HTML and JavaScript development.
    I am already supplementing the current curriculum with these topics and more but it would be great to have expanded content with assessments that remains relevant longer.
