Put Labs as Packet Tracer Activities as well in the curriculum
In the old curriculum the labs were also given as packet tracer activities. I used to have my students do them in packet tracer before going into the lab to save time. Since my classes are limited to 75mins. it is hard to do a lab if the students have not first read the lab directions and practiced the commands in packet tracer. If they do the practice first and answer the questions in the handout, then when they do the lab on real routers and switches it takes them less time and they can finish a lab within my…

chapter weighting
My idea has been closed twice. I will ask again for an easier solution.
In the old grade book I could set the weight for each chapter. e.g. I think chapter 3 should have a weight of 3 instead of a default of 5 but yet I feel chapter 8 should have a weight of 9. There are many reasons a teacher may wish to adjust weights. The answers I have been given are confusing at best and involve many steps. It should be easy to set each chapter to a default and allow instructors to adjust.1 vote -

When creating an assignment from the assignments page in Canvas, it is automatically added to the Calendar on the date you enter. If you don't set a date on the assignment you can still see it on the calendar view by clicking on the "undated events" link on the right pane of the Calendar. You can then drag it on to the calendar.
If you are not seeing the assignments from your course on the calendar make sure the course calendar is checked "on" in the right pane. Moving an item around on the calendar automatically updates the dates on…1 voteHi Miguel,

Batch Addition of Assignments
Create a way to batch add multiple assignments through a CSV file. Adding 20 labs as assignments to a course, one at a time, is time consuming to say the least. Most of the settings are the same for all of the assignments. If I could upload and download assignment settings into a cvs file and quickly edit them in Excel it would cut down on the time I spend trying to manage and create content for the course. (I don't teach courses with the same assignments, I usually change it up.)

Create a way to easily link to labs when creating assignments.
When creating assignments it would be helpful if there was a way to quickly link to the pages in the text where the labs are. I have a list of quick links I can add on the right hand side of the "edit assignment" window that lets me add links to each chapter or each exam, but nothing for quickly linking to the individual labs, packet tracers, or activities.

The Community Recognition points are a really good idea. When do they get updated?
The Community Recognition points are a really good idea. It's a very nice incentive to participate with the community through NetSpace. However, I've only seen a very few people's scores change. According to the web site they are updated live. Mine haven't adjusted since mid-December, and I've posted materials, shared ideas, and answered posts. So...When and how do they get updated?

Bulk import Instructors
A brand new Academy may have many instructors. It could be a way to import users (instructors) to academy via a .csv file. Now we have to enter one by one.

View historical courses of a instructor
I'm a instructor trainer and i need to see the courses that a instructor has made and if he/her has approved that course

Unfortunately, unless the instructor downloaded all of his/her courses from Academy Connection, there is not a way to view the historical courses.

Self-Enroll Courses: certificates
It should be very interesting for the students to get a certificate after completing the new Self-Enroll Courses.

NetAcad definitely would like to define learning objectives and assess students on their learning outcomes in the self-enroll courses.
However, the focus of the Entrepreneurship course is soft skills, which is very complicated to assess online. As such, we will not be able to issue a certificate of completion for students who complete the Entrepreneurship course.
It is our objective, to issue certificates with a passing grade for other self-enroll courses.

Instrucctor File storage area
I would like to see a single files area for me as an instructor. Since I teach several courses, I use the same files for many of the courses. For example, I teach RNS1 in the fall for a High School and a College and again in the spring for a college.
I have found errors in the PacketTracer labs that I are embeded in the curriculum. When I find an error and fix it, I have to remove the current one from every course I am using it in adn I have to upload it to each course and…2 votes -

Navigating from assignment to assignment
When making changes to assignments it would be nice if there was a link to the next assignment in the group not just the next item in the module.
A prev & next link to item in category as well would be very helpful.
Currently we have to click on the category name in the breadcrumbs then scroll down to locate the next assignment (or quiz etc..) to edit it.

Points vs. Percent Grade Type
When selecting Points vs. Percent as the grade type for an assignment, there should be some explanation of the difference. As I have come to find out, there is NO difference in how the grade is calculated in the gradebook, only in how it displays in the gradebook.
This has caused much confusion. When grading by percents, each assignment carries the same weight and you use a simple average calculation to find the category grade. When grading by points, you add the total earned points and divide by total possible points to find the category grade.
Example:
50/400 = 12.5%…4 votes -
Copy assignment within same class
It would be helpful if we could copy assignments within the same class. I create a single assignment with settings that are the same for ALL assignments (but not attach files etc...) and make X copies of it. Then all I need to to is alter directions and add appropriate files etc...
