Bridging Courses (Routing, Switching, Connecting Networks) continuation
Hi!
When new version of CCNA (i.e. CCNA RS) was announced, during all of the instructor meetings (and personally i was on meetings in CIS and Nordic Countries) we were told that we can choose by ourselves model of giving material - either in top-down with Exploration-like education or bottom-up. Nobody told anything that this will disappear after one year. Here at my university CCNA course is a part of university program and this should be agreed with lot of persons to be launched. More important i can't just go and say "Hey you know, that course we arranged and worked about for 2 months will disappear, we need to choose new model" - neither me nor my colleagues will accept that additional work.
Every time we are meeting our managers advise us to implement courses in university program, but it will be not possible with such sporadic decisions. As a result universities (or at least mine) will just refuse to run them because of student frustrations.
P.S. I have red "Keep a Exploration version of the curriculum" feedback topic, and i'm not talking about same idea, so please do not close mine and not join them.
1 - I'm talking about new course and new materials
2 - Nobody said about soon expiration of Bridging courses during course announcement
3 - Marketing researches are great, but aren't it instructors who are working with local companies and knows the "direction of wind"?
4 - If it's because of companies' (or future employees) needs, than instructors should know that and arrange education accordingly, this is more or less local decision
5 - Loyalty of universities directly depends on long-term decisions
By concluding what was said i kindly ask from instructors community name to revise decision about retirement of Bridging courses.
Hello lurii,
I’m not sure if you saw Thanh Le’s comment, so I will post it here. Please see below:
Hi Iurii,
We have been communicating this message for the past 12 months:
- Cisco Networking Academies’ recommended CCNA R&S course sequence is: Introduction to Networks, Routing and Switching Essentials, Scaling Networks and Connecting Networks
- All academies need to plan for the transition to Cisco Networking Academies’ recommended CCNA R&S course sequence, and as soon as they can
- 3 transitional courses were developed to support the academies during the transition for different reasons, e.g. curricula committee approval, course release timing, lesson plan creation, etc.
- The 3 transitional courses will not be translated and will be end-of-life 12 months after we release all of the courses (in English)
BTW, I believe you actually refer to the transition courses when you said “bridging courses”.
This message was communicated frequently, even at the risk of being repetitive, redundant and annoying, via NetAcad announcements, NetAcad Global Conferences, NetAcad Regional Conferences, NetAcad Local Conferences, CCNA Instructor Community, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. And this message is permanently and visibly displayed in the NetSpace CCNA R&S pages.
We apologize if we were not able to capture your attention and clearly communicate our messages via these different communication channels.
Cisco Networking Academy CCNA R&S curriculum was developed to be globally consistent, with the objective of optimizing students’ employment opportunities with CCENT as the foundation to pursue advanced technologies (after two courses). The decision on Cisco Networking Academies’ recommended CCNA R&S course sequence was made with deliberate considerations and with comprehensive feedback from our CCNA instructors.
As a data point for your reference, over 80% of our academies have adopted the recommended CCNA R&S course sequence (in English). We are hopeful for the same level of adoption for the translated courses when they are released later this year.
Thank you for your comment, Cheers.
