Track the number of hours each students is reading the online materials.
I would like a way to see how long (or the number of pages ) a student spends on the online materials and the date it was accessed. I know when they access a chapter exam but I would like to see how long they spent using the online materials, on a student by student basis.

I have the same observation so I only count the chapter exams as 8% of their grade. Then, I create my own quiz sometimes using a chapter quiz question, some of my own and variations of questions in the chapter exam. Quiz results count toward 15% of their grade. I may even make chapter exams 5% and quiz results 20%.

Hi Bob,
One of the reasons for this suggestion was to be able to correlate the students grade in the chapter tests to the time they spend reading the online curriculum. I do have a few students that get poor grades in the chapter tests and when questioned in class, their knowledge is poor. I would like to be able to see whether they are accessing the online materials and even sit with them to show them that I can see that they have or haven't accessed them. Then if they have accessed them I can discuss "paying attention" with them and if they haven't I can discuss the need to access them.
I agree that ccna v5 cheat sites are rempant and the tracking may help this. There are students that get excellent grades in the chapter tests but whose knowledge is poor when questioned. If I could show that they have not accessed the materials but still have a good grade, I will be better armed to discuss "how" they managed the good grades without accessing the materials. -

I think we would find that this would not be a very good use of development time. Although it may be useful to make sure that students are able to engage with the curriculum, or perhaps to see how many people don't purchase other resources, beyond that I don't think useful. Web info is easily tracked for events, but more difficult to correlate access to "view time", let alone "paying attention time". There may also be a privacy issue in some circumstances / jurisdictions?
Maybe what might (partly?) do the trick for this is to create a 1-2 question quiz (or quizzes), that they do upon completion of the chapter or chapter portion? I understand that cisco may be working on expanding the course question banks which would be helpful for this (ccnav5 cheat sites are rampant).
