Help students & teachers find, complete, & grade ALL lab questions.
A problem with grading lab (Word) documents is two-fold. First, students miss questions they should answer. It's very easy to overlook a lonely question buried in the middle of screenshots and lots of informational text. I don't like to count off for that, and I don't want to ask students to finish it and have to grade it again. Perhaps questions can be put into a table format (see attached).
Second, and related to the first, is that when grading, it is very difficult as the grading teacher to also browse documents to find the question/answers. At first I pleaded with students to put their answers in red, but they have to change the font color to red each time they go to a different question. I've also reverted to searching (CTRL+F) the page for question marks. This works most of the time, but I have seen "required entries" that do not have a question mark, so I would miss those. Then I started turning on "change tracking" before I attach it to an assignment which automatically turns their entries to red. Good!
While the change tracking helps me find answers to grade, it doesn't fix the issue of students overlooking some questions inadvertently. In addition, it sometimes causes me to overlook a question not answered because I'm only looking for the red answers (unless I've graded enough of them to begin looking for all the answers).
Obviously, the table suggestion I made and attached would fix both these problems, but whatever you feel you can do to assist with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Another option would be to highlight the questions with a background color, (Grey maybe), and set the answer line to RED font as a default so when the student types, it is in RED!. I do this manually and it works great, but I dread each time a new set of labs is issued.
