Make Networking Essentials a self-enrol course on Netacad
As Networking Essentials is not certification focussed and organisations using it are focussed on engagement, development and mastery via this introductory concepts course.
Could we have 'self-enrol' added to the add students section to enable a more scalable and flexible offer.
Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately at this time we will not be able to implement your idea.

Instructor should be given a hand in it, its quite packed ...else we loose some real concepts of students calculating binaries using calculators.... what if they missed sth and got to the real world? ...my opinion

Using this course as a feed in experience for the main RSE certification pathway would assist potential students deciding if networking is where they see their future career.

I am teaching a Networking Essentials course to a group of instructors right now and they are struggling with the content. It contains all the core competencies of Networking so new teachers still need training by qualified instructors. Maybe a Fast Track option should be implemented before going straight to a self-enroll option.

Self enrolment for the Networking Essentials course is a great idea given it's not on the certification pathway.

YES, I agree as well, but I also agree with the cautious approach of the colleague below, who says: "we should also allow the Instructor to have a level of control over the students."
Not sure how this level of control can be implemented, but some ideas are:
- to be clear to the students about the level of the course and which chapters might be more difficult to grasp without help
- if the class is more than five individual students, then the possibility of one or two masterclasses
It does not mean I am right, but just some thoughts. Not all people know how to learn on their own. -

I think we can take a gamble and enable self enroll. But we should also allow the Instructor to have a level of control over this students.
