Should I go for CCNA SEC with no networking work experience?
Hello Friends,
I have a CCNA R&S and 8 months at a help desk type role with no access to the routers and switches. I have physical access to check for cabling issues or whatever but if I suspect a port is down or need a vlan changed I have to call someone to do it. I think my lacking experience and lacking a degree is holding me back from finding a more networky gig. I know this question has come up in regards to CCNP and the general consensus I've seen is not to do it till you have some experience. I don't want to seem over certified and I see a lot of people compare the ccna sec difficulty to that of the ccnp(https://goo.gl/PfbAW6). I have A+, CySA+ and CCNA. Or should I maybe do some CCNA level certs from other vendors like Juniper's JNCIA or maybe some LPIC certs?

Thank you for your interest in how to move forward with your career. This forum is used for the Cisco Networking Academy program for Instructors to submit ideas for improvement. As for the best direction for you to take I am not the best one to give a recommendation for your career; however, I can tell you both CCNA Security and CCNP courses are available through the Cisco Networking Academy Program.
