canvas features to add
After a week of class there are a few additions I'd like to see on the NetSpace site.
- Ability to add other calendar feeds to the one in Canvas
- this would make adding events and linking to the school calendar much easier
- Include the Chat Function of Canvas
- students are asking for this, I don't see a way to add an IRC program on my own to my class site
- Include the Collaborations function of Canvas
- would make integration of team projects and collaboration easier, more efficient and seamless
- And to help make student success much better, include the Conferences function, the BigBlueButton.
- I use another program (not WebEx) to record and broadcast my classes for students unable to get to class. Using this feature would make that process easier for me and the students. It would also open up the opportunity for more instructors to experiment with this delivery method. There may be other Canvas features that would enhance the site further, the above are ones I know would right away.
Love the NetSpace site. It is more intuitive and the students "get it" more quickly than Academy Connections. It is easier for me to put my content in this one location rather than having multiple locations to conduct the class. Adding the above features would provide everything I need to do in the one location.
Thank you

A lot of us (teachers) are working with Outlook. Do you think to use this agenda ?

Dave,
the other options in Canvas that would be helpful in NetSpace are:Collaborations - (from the Instructor Guide) leverages technologies like Google Docs and EtherPad (hosted at typewith.me) to allow multiple users to work together on the same document at the same time. Collaborative documents are saved in real-time, meaning a change made by any of its users will be immediately visible to everyone.
ePortfolios - they would be a great addition for the students and help us integrate "softskills" into the program.
Thanks for considering them.
Michael
