Improve process for reviewing quizzes in new LMS
Reviewing quizzes in the new LMS is clunky and inefficient at best.
I really wanted to create surveys with multiple choice questions and link those to an assignment, as I was able to do in Canvas but that seems to be completely impossible in the new LMS. So, in order to assign points so students could receive credit for completing a first day of class survey, I had to create a graded quiz in order to use multiple choice questions. Multiple choice questions don't allow me to indicate that any answer is satisfactory, since I am really collecting information about initial information about students in the course and intend for them to receive full credit for completing the survey.
I had HOPED to be able to have a "speed grader" facility to review the survey quizzes and correct/override scores to give students full credit for submitting the "quiz." It turns out that for each question I want to override, a window pops up and I have to repeatedly scroll to the bottom of the window - because it does not remember what size I used the last time - in order to change the marks for the response to 1 instead of 0 or a fraction. Then, I have to save the change each and every time. When the pop up window closes the web browser window jumps and, depending on the browser, I may be and the top of the quiz responses, or on a different question - but I am NEVER where I started out. So, I then have to scroll through the questions again in order to find the question I was most recently reviewing, so I can go to the next question. This is painful, tedious, and a total waste of time. If the goal was to persuade me to use the local campus LMS, which provides a much simpler interface for reviewing and changing scores for quizzes, you have most likely succeeded. The Canvas interface was much more intuitive and easier to work in than the erratic, inefficient, and completely frustrating experience in the new LMS.
Thank you for all of your feedback. We are continuing to look at improvements for the site. We do not have any specific time on when we will be able to implement the changes you recommended; however, they will be looked at for future releases.
