Fixing the time zone flaw
Student report from most of my students:
"Please attempt again to correct your timezone mechanism.
I was able to change it within Canvas but Cisco did not give me the option to change my settings. I am listed with an African time zone."
Fix this flaw ASAP please as my students'assignments and exams show the incorrect timezone date making it impossible for them to do their work.
Long back story, but I will attempt to shorten it.
Your helpdesk told me that when my students were registering for accounts this term our academy timezone was incorrect, without my intervention or knowledge, to another half-way around the world. My students could not change it in their profiles, as it was non-responsive to their attempts. (Not a browser blocker or cache problem.)
Your help desk assured me that they could even though I witnessed that they could not.
I corrected the academy timezone being assured by your help desk that my students would be able to correct it in their profiles.
The profile timezone change worked, but their classes retained the incorrect timezone.
Consequently,their assignment and exam dates are off making it impossible for them to access them.
Thank you for all of the information. There was an issue with some student’s profiles not updating correctly in the New Experience. This has been fixed so they will see assignments based on the timezone in their profile.
Assessments (those with the green puzzle icon in New Experience) us the time from the individual’s computer instead of the profile timezone.
We will keep this idea in mind for future updates so all places in NetAcad use the same timezone.
