Instructors taking assessments
I was always able to take the tests in the Academy. I found this very convenient as it helped me keep my skills up to date. I cannot do this in Netspace. I was told to create a new student and then use that "dummy" student to take the tests. I would much rather just be able to take the tests as an administrator.
The Assessment Viewer is the only solution we are able to offer at this time in order to view exams. If you want to see if the exam is active for your students you will be able to use the ‘Manage Activations’ page or create a test student account to enroll into your course.

It would be nice for instructors to be able to go in and preview the assessments in student view (actually seeing assessment) for instance to see what it does on pre check of if software right to take the test.

Would it be possible to masquerade as a dummy user (as opposed to a real student) to check and take chapter tests, exams etc. Also could be used to check web-browsers are working correctly etc.

I was just reading the the ITN Instructors Planning guide, an noticed that Cisco's first Best Practice is that the instructor take the chapter assessment, prior to teaching the chapter. There is no way I can do this with out creating a fake student. Is that the recommended procedure?

I also find it useful as you are more likely to help students with specific questions they may have got wrong if you too have undertake the exam at some point. Plus as already mentioned it is a great activity to do yourself if you want to check your current skill level or in preparation for re-certification.

More than that, for instructors that theach in other languages, as I do (Brazilian Portuguese), it is very important to have access to the assessments, especially the SBA with Packet Tracer. In the CCNA Exploration version 4.0, the SBAs where not translated into portuguese, they where in English, and we could provide a Portuguese version of them thanks to fact that we had access to them in the Academy Connection. Here comes version 5 of CCNA, I hope we can have access to the assessments and see if they are in Portuguese, or not.

When we moved to the current (old netacad) that is what we had to do also. We had the ability to take the tests then they took it away and then they saw we needed it and they put it back. Probably doing the same mistake again. Take away, see that it is valuable for instructors and put it back.

I agree with this recommendation because it's useful for Instructors when re-certifying to try the assessments, especially the practice CCENT and CCNA exams. Creating a "dummy" student is not the most efficient way of doing this as it's just extra overhead for the Academy to keep track of among legitimate students who are enrolled in courses. I certainly miss this feature as well and hope it's incorporated into NetSpace.

I activated chapter exams, yes. Exploration 1 Chapter 2 till 11, step by step; no summary functionality any more ;-(
Then i tried the student view to watch, if the students can reach them over the assignment button,
but a message appears, that there are no active assessments. So i thought, i make a mistake by the activation, looked at the tutorials and wonder... wonder again and again and used the live chat...
after nearly one hour the result was, that with a new student account the chapter exams seems to appear, but with the student view the message with no active exams is still coming...
I think, there is a bug in the student view... or should this button be named to "student view (but not for assessments)" ?!
NetSpace is not yet a step to the front... sometimes back... in the sum to the side....
I hope it will work for us like NetAcad soon.
