Remove need to sign in for each/every use of Packet Tracer 7.2
Since Packet Tracer 7.2 has appeared - two issues have occurred
Every time a student in a class room logs into a computer, they have to log into PT. Reducing teaching time and adding admin load to frustrated teachers. Also - we are trying to work with orgs who wish to use PT for U13 students - we are having to encourage them to use a generic login and work around this new feature.
For Mac - this screen is now causing many WINE bottlers to crash. We have students and academies who use PT and now have to use a VM - which is slower and more resource intensive.
While we acknowledge that there is a desire from Cisco to record metrics. Can this not be accomplished anonymously. As you are now encouraging all academies to create workarounds and lose limited teaching time and irritate a considerable number of teachers.
The Packet Tracer team has worked on the login process. They are trying to get PT to a place where users that are already logged into Cisco NetAcad will not have to login again. In addition, they have changed the process for Packet Tracer assessment so users will not have to login to Packet Tracer when doing a Packet Tracer assessment.

This is a daft idea that limits the use of Packet Tracer as the go to network teaching software. Cisco need a dose of really in their decision making.

Sigh - this has been incredibly hard work for us. It took considerable effort to persuade the IT technicians to install PT 7.2 - now it is causing issues for the students and SLT are becoming annoyed.

to be fair - I think we have stolen your thunder with this post ... https://netspace.uservoice.com/forums/168832-instructor-feedback-forum/suggestions/35433166-remove-need-to-sign-in-for-each-every-use-of-packe ... you have made an insightful suggestion based on the issue we have experienced.

Sigh - just picked this one up via FB - it has been hard work since installing 7.2 - why has Cisco gone down this aggressive login route?

I agree. In this version, we have to login into PT on every computer in our Labs. Not all our PCs are connected to internet.

I agree and support your idea.

I fully support the idea of modifying that obstacle presented by this new version of PT

Saw this on a post in the forums - I have to wholeheartedly agree. Before - on earlier versions of PT it was irritating. Now it is incredibly annoying. Does Cisco not trust us, does Cisco also distrust our students. I have already created a 'pretend' account with credentials on the classroom wall to get around this. Not that this is a good thing - more you have created something that forces me to make our lives easier.

Consider offering a way for students and instructors to save their netacad logins/passwords in the PacketTracer Settings. This could be a new tab in the preferences in PacketTracer.

This is a very annoying and will discourage many instructors to go back to 7.1.1. Instructors have so many things to deal with and don't need this painful exercise. Please, Cisco reverts back to the previous format for 7.2 and enable single login?
Thanks

Quite annoying - we are in the process of uninstalling PT7.2 and going back to v7.1.1 until this fix has been done. I have great respect for Netacad and Packet Tracer yet this hasn't been the best move so far.

We are trying to use Packet Tracer on Mac's in our classroom. At the moment we are stuck with 7.1.1 on Play on Mac - as v7.2 keeps crashing on the sign on.

Thanks for this - was wondering when this was going to be irritating others. Once upon a time, we could simply install packet tracer without any issues. Back then it also used to collect metrics. Like one wag shared - it isn't as if they remember their pencils, let alone their login.
We like Netacad, we love Packet Tracer, to discover that we are being hampered in our teaching is to put not too fine a point on it ... utterly painful.

Be great to have it an open tool to make access easier for students.
